WPH Certified Coaches Aoife McCarthy and Catriona Casey in Action and Making a Difference!
The WPH has been thrilled to host Aoife McCarthy and Catriona Casey in Tucson, AZ this summer to coach juniors and help with the WPH Outdoor summer season. Coach Aoife and Coach Catriona coached a combined 40 junior handball clinics for 160 youngsters per week at the Tucson Racquet Club All Sports Summer camp for a total of 250 junior handball clinics! The ladies have also traveled with the WPH to WPH Outdoor events to coach junior clinics and assist in running the tournament desk. The ladies are even doing some office work!
Aoife McCarthy and Catriona Casey became WPH Certified Coaches by excelling at all four components of the Junior WPH Certification exam.
“Excelling at the WPH Coaching Exam is extremely difficult and requires a tremendous amount of preparation, experience, diligence and passion for the game,” declared WPH Donor Development Director David Fink. “These ladies were so impressive in all phases of the exam and the WPH is thrilled to name Catriona and Aoife as WPH Certified Coaches.”
Coaches McCarthy and Casey have made a positive impression on every student with whom they have instructed during their 250 clinics at the Tucson Racquet Club All Sports Camp. “I cannot tell you the type of positive impact these ladies have had on the camp,” barked TRC All Sports camp director Coach Anderson. “The ladies are so incredible with the kids and the kids have really taken to handball because of it.”
McCarthy and Casey are not only making a huge impact on the Tucson Racquet Club All Sports Summer Camp, but have also become huge favorites in the Tucson handball community. “Bringing these girls to Tucson for the summer was the best thing the WPH has ever done,” boasted Grand Master and Tucson handball ambassador Charlie Wicker. “Not only are these young ladies great with the kids, but they are incredible players as well! What a treat for us to be able to play with these girls.”
Coach McCarthy’s degree in Sport Management and Coach Casey’s degree in Teaching have suited them extremely well in their various tasks this summer. “I have worked with a lot of people and I have never seen the kind of work ethic that both of these ladies possess,” barked WPH Executive Director David Charles Vincent IV. “These ladies never stop working and asking what they can do to help. I just wish they didn’t have to go back to Ireland.”
