JR WPH HEADS TO MODESTO

Nearly thirty juniors and adults received just over an hour of instruction. Students were shown correct swing mechanics, proper footwork and court placement and the best “ready position” when returning the ball. “I think players were surprised with regard to how low they need to be in order to hit the ball accurately,” stated Peixoto. “I also think the older players were surprised to find they actually could bend that low.” Read More, HERE>

JUNIOR WPH THRIVING IN 2014

JUNIOR WPH CLINIC DENVER

“I had never seen that type of energy and enthusiasm from such a large group of junior handball players at a Race event,” stated WPH Master Instructor David Fink in reference to Denver’s Junior WPH Clinic. “I was extremely impressed with the talent of the kids, many of whom had been playing for less than a year. Junior handball is certainly thriving in Colorado thanks to Bob Hickman and the Colorado Handball Association.”
Anthony Selestow and Jon Iglesias organized a lowest kill shot competition amongst the entire group. The juniors were then separated into two groups for more individualized instruction and game play. The juniors were given the opportunity to receive tips from coaches Selestow and Iglesias and play singles and doubles points against their heroes.
“I really love being able to give back to the game and show some of the kids how to improve their games,” stated Iglesias. “I have been fortunate to have been coached by some of the greatest coaches in the game and being able to pass that knowledge onto the next generation is very rewarding.”
Junior WPH is very proud to incorporate junior clinics at all Race events to inspire the next generation of players. The WPH firmly believes in creating role models on and off the court to spawn junior handballers that embrace the fundamentals, etiquette and respect for the game. WPH pros coach clinics at all of the Race events and many of them are certified WPH coaches that have taken the Junior WPH Coaching clinic and passed the rigorous three-part WPH coaching certification exam.
Junior WPH continues to teach handball clinics at elementary schools, after school programs, universities, summer camps and at all WPH pro events. Look for the next webcasted Junior WPH clinic in Salt Lake City at the WPH Edtl Player’s Championship April 18th-20th.
FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS VIDEO
Junior WPH held a Benefit Tournament in Tucson, AZ, where Paul Brady and Emmett Peixoto performed clinics alongside Abraham Montijo and local handball playing youth. After warm-ups and lessons were done, a three-man pro exhibition took place (as a Tune-Up for Colorado Race Stop #5). In the day’s finale, Ireland’s, Paul Brady (Current 4 Time world Champ / Current 9 Time National Champ), took on former #1, Emmett Peixoto (San Francisco, CA). When the dust settled, the Junior WPH raised a few thousands dollars for the development fund and local and national coaching ventures- all because of this one amazing night and tremendous support from Gurumeet Khalsa, Doug Clark, Jeff Healam, Scott Cleveland, Bob Durazo, and numerous local supporters and volunteers (Vince San Angelo, Lolita de Vincent, et al).
